 a.) In developing, low-income countries, every additional year of education can increase a person's future income by an average of 10%.

   b.) Children living in Pakistan have no legal right to a free education and compulsory education only runs between the ages of 5-9

Education Fun Facts In America

 a.) The first schools in the 13 colonies opened in the 17th century. The Boston Latin School was the first public school opened in the United States, in 1635. To this day, it remains the nation's oldest public school. 

    b.) Through the 1960s, the United States had a racially segregated system of schools. This was despite the 1954 Brown vs. Board Supreme Court ruling. By the late 1970s segregated schooling in the United States was eliminated. 

Education Fun Facts In Developing Countries

   a.) 67 million primary school-aged children are still denied the right to education.

   b.) The African continent has areas with less than 50% literacy among children ages 18 and under. In comparison, the youth literacy rates in South American and European countries are among the highest with 90-100% literacy. 

Education Fun Facts About Education And Literacy

  a.)  The University of Cambridge is known as the second-oldest university in the English-speaking world. It was founded by scholars including Jane Goodall, Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, and Stephen Hawking. 

  b.) The University of Oxford is the world's oldest English-speaking university. Though the date of its founding is unclear, the format date is usually considered to be A.D. 1096, though teaching from the Oxford location is older than this. Notable alumni include T.S Eliot, J.R.R Tolkien, Dr. Seuss, and Stephen Hawking. 

  c.) Worldwide, low literacy rates can be linked to several disasters, including high infant immortality; spread of HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other preventable infectious disease; prejudice against women, including female infanticide and female circumcision; and extreme poverty. 

Education Fun Facts In Black History

  a.) Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on Maya Angelou's birthday, on April 4, 1968. Angelou stopped celebrating her birthday for years, and sent flowers to King's widow, Coretta Scott King, for more than 30 years, until Coretta's death in 2006. 

   b.) The National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) opened in 2021 and is the only museum dedicated to preserving the legacy and celebrating the accomplishments of the many music genres created, influenced, or inspired by African Americans. 

   c.) The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, performed in front of a televised audience in Boston the day after Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. Brown is credited for preventing further riots with the performance. 

Education Fun Facts On Education Foundations/Nonprofit Organizations

1. The Lassiter Education Foundation is a registered nonprofit organization that supports at-risk youths in Wake County. Specifically, the organization raises funds and offers scholarships to deserving students to experience life-changing opportunities, such as, summer camps, recreation/sports leagues. The foundation is completely volunteer, and all donations go directly to support local youths with overhead expenses. They were founded in 2019 by Wake County native and Wake County Public School System.

2. The School Of Hope is a school in Fayetteville dedicated to providing a quality education for children with autism. The School Of Hope was founded in 2017. The school offers a variety of classes and programs, including music and art programs, and scholarships and grants are available to provide financial assistance to families.
